Meet Laura

I founded Crescendo Piano Studio in 2001. Since then, I have had the opportunity to work with over 85 music students. I received my Royal Conservatory of Music Grade Eight certificate in 1988, and my strong background in classical music has expanded to include contemporary music, jazz, chording, and composition.

I have experience with worship team and church music, accompanying, and ensembles, and have been an active member of the Olds and District Music Teachers Association since 2004. When I’m not in my studio, I can be found outdoors with a good book, spending time with friends and loved ones, and writing.

Crescendo Piano Studio is a home based piano studio in Didsbury, Alberta. Lessons for all ages.

Creativity Through Time

My music education began at the age of seven, when I learned to read notes, count time, and draw treble clefs. I took Royal Conservatory of Music examinations and performed in festivals, dabbling in composition on the side, but never really trusted my ear or understood how all these separate pieces fit together.

Eventually, I started integrating theory into all my beginner student lessons, and talking more and more about basic musical structure, and something clicked.

Music offers limitless creativity. It taps into our emotions, our sense of play. But it is also ordered, patterned, predictable. These structural elements are the foundation of a strong musical house. I delight in teaching all of these elements. I call them the underpinnings. And I love helping students understand how they all blend together in a harmonious whole.
